Some of the motor traders in Auckland have said it may not be long before a car made in New Zealand can be produced. Many parts are already produced in New Zealand and factories capable of making almost any car part are either being constructed or planned.
Overseas writers say British cars are winning a strong place in Common Market countries. Sales are well up in most countries, particularly in Italy, where several British makes are now assembled locally. In Italy, sales of the Austin A4O far exceed those of the Volkswagen, and Ford Anglia sales also exceed those of the Volkswagen by several thousand.
