Waitak: Hanover, has been sold for £6OOO. one of the biggest prices paid in New Zealand for a lightharness horse. Waitaki Hanover has been bought by Mr F. A. Smith, a publican of Kurow, and his mother. Mr Smith has raced the horse on lease from his owner, Mr C J. Munro, since last November Mr Munro, also a resident of Kurow. bred Waitaki Hanover and leased the horse to Mr Smith as a two-year-old. For the first nine starts of his three-year-old season Waitaki Hanover was leased to Mr F Steel, for whom he was trained by J. D. Litten. Mr Smith sent the horse to Auckland for P. T. Wolfender, to train, and for this trainer Waitaki Hanover won four races including the Great Northern Derby, beating Lordship. Altogether in New Zealand Waitaki Hanover has started 21 times for six wins, all this season, and has won £3249 in stakes. Of this sum £3154 has been earned this season.
