TROTTING MASTER ALAN AND WINONA

Double At Addington T omorrow Master Alan and Winona could form the successful doubles combination on the second day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s Easter meeting at Addingon tomorrow. Master Alan raced right up to his best form when third to Falsehood and Gildirect in the Rattray Handicap last Saturday and he is expected to improve on that effort in the Williams Handicap, the first leg of the double. The four-year-old son of Masterpiece has seldom paced a bad race this season and he looks ready to gain his sixth win for the period in his next start or two.

The Belfast trainer, C. S. Donald, will again produce three runners Last week Falsehood won from Gildirect. but this time Gildirect. which meets his stablemate on 12 yards more favourable terms, is selected to do best of the three. Gildirect paced probably his best race for the season when placed last week and little improvement will be necessary for him to win. Falsehood won so easily last week that irs penalty of 12 yards should not worry him unduly. Dandy Briar was the disappointment of the bracket last week. He is better than that effort suggested and he could confirm that tomorrow.

Lordship paced an outstanding race for one of his age when he finished fifth in the Rattray Handicap after receiving a poor run. The Johnny Globe colt is certain to be improved by the race and he looks one of the b- : ghter prospects in this field.

* Sea field Lad is an interes’ing newcomer to this company After his fine win in a slower class last week, he will be in demand. He looks more favourably placed on the front in this race than he has been in most of his appearances this season. Scottish Light and Zenith should do best of the others on the front.

Queen N?aio. a good sixth in the Rattray Handicap Vanity Scott, seventh in the same race, and Frown, a close second to Axis over 10 furlongs. will also have supporters Lookaway. on 54 yards, will need plenty of luck if the pace is solid all the way. He is a top-class pacer and at least must be considered as a place prospect

Another open field will contest the second leg. the President’s Handicap, which will be run over 13 furlongs Winona is selected to win

after her pleasing run for a close fourth in the two-mile race won by Antonius on the first day of the meeting Winona hesitated at the start and lost a lot of ground She put in a determined run for her placing and with a better beginning she should be the hardest to beat in this field. Gold Globe raced right up to the good form she showed in the summer when she finished third to Antonius and Jack Super on the first day of the meeting. Gold Globe has paced only one really bad race since before Christmas and her recent efforts have suggested that she will win again at short notice

Morano Boy dropped out to near the rear at the end of five furlongs in his race last Saturday and he unwound a tremendous run to finish a close seventh. The ground he lost was not his own fault as he met trouble.

The Morano gelding is in great heart at present and it will be surprising if he fails to make a bold showing Deep Lead, a winner in a slower class last Saturday, has raced most generously in recent weeks and the stronger opposition he will encounter here should not prove too much for him.

Heathmount. a sound seventh last week, should again be prominent, but she should be safely held by Jack Super, which was caught in the last stride by Antonius last Saturday Jack Super is noted for consistency. and he should be one of the better prospects. Lauder Scott and Southern Cross should do best of the others on the front, while Adios Heather, Dark Louise and Dark Wonder are form horses on 12 yards. Fair weather is forecast and the track is expected to be in splendid order.
