No Rivals For Penny

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 21. In spite of W. Penny’s intention to attempt the Cook Strait swim again next week, other swimmers who ■ attempted the swim this season de not plan to try again. D. Chapman’s pilot, Mr A. Fishburn, said tonight that it was "too cold” for a swim. He said that cold ruined Chapman’s last bid and it was colder now than it was last week. B. Devenport. whose attempt on March 1 ended about a mile from Wellington Head in the South Island, agreed.

“It will take a lot more planning and training to swim the strait than a few weeks,” he said.'"l’m quite confident I will swim the strait next year, but not till then.”
