SWAB FROM DALMAIN

Interviews; No Comment (NZ. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 21. Several persons in Gore have been interviewd in the last fortnight on the administration at the drug morphine to the mare Dalmain at Gore on Saturday, February 10. but neither the Invercargill police nor the New Zealand Racing Conference resident inspector in Dunedin (Mr F. G. Pine) would comment on the matter this morning. Dalmain, which is trained at Wingatui by W. J. Hewitt for Mr D. Kelly, of Ettrick, was one of the favourites for the Farewell Hack Handicap at Gore on February 10, but she was scratched for the race after it had been found that she had been interfered with in her box at the Show Grounds. Tie mare was swabbed after the incident and returned a positive test of morphine. Approached today, Mr Pine said he could say nothing at this stage of the proceedings. The secretary of the New Zeeland Racing Conference (Mr A. M. Mcßeath), said from Wellington that the case was a matter for toe police. Mr Mcßeath confirmed that Dalmain would not be able to fulfil her engagement in the Aubrey Champion Hack Handicap at Oamaru next Monday. He said that toe horse would not be able to run again until such time as toe incident had been discussed by the Southland District Committee. This would be possible in about a fortnight
