LOCAL BODY INCOME
Other Sources Sought (MX Press Association) AUCKLAND March A The Municipal Association will pursue energetically alternative sources of local body income and will tell the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Gotz), that the premtat rating burden is becoming intolerable. The association decided this at its conference in Auckland today after receipt ot a report from a special committee set up last year to investigate sources of revenue. The "unsympathetic attitude” so far displayed by the Government made it quite clear that local bodies could expect no financial assistance from the central government said the report The local bodies would, therefore, have to formulate some proposals to help themselves and would have to take steps to ensure that the Government was prepared to approve such measures.
