ORDER OF SAINT STEPHEN
Miss G. McClennan Received Miss Gillian McClennan was received into the Order of St. Stephen, an order of voluntary and sacrificial service within the Methodist Church, at a special service at the Christchurch Central Mission. Miss McClennan began her service as a candidate for the order in February, 1961, and has been in sole charge of the office of the Central Mission. "She has been a welcome and valued member of the congregation and has given leadership as a Sunday school teacher, a Girls' Life Brigade officer and a counsellor for the Preston Mission.” said a citation read by the superintendent of the mission (the Rev W. E. Falkingham)’ for the Director of the Methodist Department of Christian Education (Mr W. F. Ford). The order is administered by the Methodist Board of Christian Education. Miss McClennan was received into the order by the chairman of the district committee of the church (the Rev. H. G Brown). The address was given by the Rev. L V. Willing, chairman of the Methodist District Youth Council. Another candidate for the order. Miss Beth James, of New South Wales, is now working as an assistant to the minister of the Durham street Methodist Church.
