CONFERENCE SPEAKS FOR 1200 SCHOOL COMMITTEES
The Dominion conference of the New Zealand School Committees’ Federation, which will be held in Christchurch this week-end, is notable because it is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the first national meeting. But the conference is more significant because of the breadth of its mandate.
There are 34 district associations in the federation, representing 1200 school committees, so that the conference speaks for 7000 to 8000 committee members. All of these are the elected representatives of householders and parents interested in New Zealand schools.
This is the chief reason why the discussions and decisions of the 52 delegates will be followed with interest by thousands, ranging from the Minister of Education to parents in the most remote parts of the country.
