AFRAID TO LEAVE BED
Woman Starved To Death (fil£. Prtu Assn— Logvngnt) LONDON, March 8. A wife aged 65 starved to death in u-r bed because she was afraid to go to hospital in case her husband took in another woman to replace her, an inquest jury was told on Tuesday. The fear that kept her in bed at home for 15 months was described to a Southend inquest jury yesterday by the husband, Mr James Davey, aged 58, of Westcliffe, Essex, said the “Daily Express." The "Daily Express" said Dr. Michael O’Riordan told the Court he was not called to see Mrs Davey until January 1 last. She was emaciated. dulseless. and dying. He arranged for her to go to hospital, but she died the night before she was to be admitted.
Dr. Francis Camps, pathologist. said there was nothing wrong with Mrs Davey except months of gradual starvation. A verdict was returned that death was caused by lack of care.
