Expansion Of Code More soccer referee* were needed, the outgoing chairman of the Canterbury Referees’ Association (Mr C. Sweeney) said in his annual report. The report was received at the annual general meeting of the association last evening. “Although our list of referee* remains at about the same strength, we need to boat our number* to give adequate coverage to the increasing number of games." he said. The chairman of the Canterbury Football Association (Mr L Smith) gave an outline of the major game* which it waa expected would be played in Christchurch thia year. These Included games with Auckland. Wellington and Otago, and the visiting Brazilian aide. ..The award of two second-class New Zealand Referee** Association badge* waa announced at the meeting.
