INSURANCE POLICIES
Harbour Board To Report The Lyttelton Harbour Board's insurances should be the subject of a report more informative than two lines in the finance committee’s report, Mr L. G. Amos said at a board meeting yesterday. “A matter which affects £3 million worth of assets and £20.000 worth of premiums each year is important,” said Mr Amos when the confirmation of minutes of a previous meeting was before the meeting. “The finance committee’s report should be referred back for a further report.” Told by She chairman (Mr A. A. Macfarlane) that he could only question the accuracy of the minutes, Mr Amos said he would accept that, but he did not think the board should adopt a recommendation that no further action be taken on the appointment of insurance brokers until all the information was given to board members.
My only complaint is the paucity of the report,” Mr Amos said later in the meeting. “As a board member I feel I am entitled to know a little bit more”
One large local body, the Auckland Harbour , Bridge Authority, called tenders for its insurance, he said. There was another question about the distribution of insurance. A full report would need to be in committee because of the confidential matters it would raise, Mr Macfarlane said.
Mr Amos: That would be all right. “We could discuss it in committee,” said Mr J Brand.
“I just want to know what is going on,” said Mr Amos. The board agreed that the finance committee should be asked for a full report.
