CHURCHES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Change In Rating System Sought
( N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Mar. 7. The Municipal Association ■wants local bodies to have freedom to waive rates on church buildings under construction. It decided in an emergency resolution today, to ask the Minister of Internal Affairs <Mr Gotz> to have the Rating Act amended to that effect. The president (Mr A. L. Adamson) gave the Mayor of Auckland <Mr D. M. Robinson). special permission to raise the issue, which was not on the conference
agenda. The Rating Act at present allows rating exemption on church buildings when completed.
