Seven Drowned In February
(HZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Mar. 6.
Last month seven persons were drowned, six fewer than in February, 1981. The drowning of two persons fishing from rocks was described by Mr S. V. Higgins, secretary tit the national water safety committee, as “a disturbing feature.” He said he hoped people were not forgetting an important rule in rock fishing—to keep well out of reach of all waves, not just average ones, but the big one that comes along “out of the blue.”
