The Commonwealth cricket team, all out for 207, were in a strong position at the close of play of the first day of ’ their two-day match against Kenya at Nairobi. At the close, Kenya had made 63 for 7. Hanif Mohammed (Pakistan) hit 100 and R. Marshal (West Indies) hit a fast 40. The English pace bowler H. Rhodes proved too much for the Kenya batsmen. He claimed the first five wickets for 27 runs, and at the close had taken 6 for-34.
