STUDENTS’ HARDSHIP
Rise In Fees Of Asians (Press Association) PALM. NORTH March 7. Serious financial difficulty ia being experienced by some Asian students at Massey College as the result of the recent increase in university fees. The matter is being investigated by the Massey College Students’ Association and a report will be made to the college council. Of the 32 Asian students at Massey, only 18 are in receipt ot Colombo Plan bursaries The remainder are either studying on grants made by their governments or are paving their own way. Some of those on fixed monetary grants or with limited private means have been unable to pay the increased lecture fees Some of the Indian students have also had difficulty in getting their money transferred to New Zealand.
