FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A trough of low pressure lies over the North Island. A cold front is moving on to the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Light winds and fine weather at first apart from some low cloud about the coast but moderate to fresh southerlies developing with a few showers and cooler temperatures. Outlook: some coastal showers, partly cloudy inland. Marlborough and Nelson.—Fresh southerlies in exposed places about the Sounds, light to moderate, variable winds elsewhere; cloudy and warm with some showers at times. Outlook: showers. West Coast.—Light to moderate variable winds; variable skies with a few isolated showers at first, but more widespread showers for a time during the day; mild temperatures. Outlook: becoming fine.
