Rolls-Royce Tax Case
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, March 4. The Rolls-Royce combine has lost a six-year fight with the British taxation authorities over money it received by selling technical “knowhow” to foreign countries and aircraft firms. The company sold £1,250,000 worth of knowhow and claimed tax immunity on it on the grounds that it was a capital asset
and not part of ordinary trade. The House of Lords has now ruled in favour of the Taxation Comnusßioners. The decision means the Commissioners can now go ahead with claims against other big industrial companies.
