SUB-CENTRE OF RED CROSS
Waipara Activities Outlined ■The Waipara sub-centre of the Red Cross Society held its annual meeting recently. The president (Mrs B. Wyn Williams) reported that the branch had helped the blood bank on two occasions during the year, held a first-aid class and sent several new and used garments and books to the North Canterbury Centre of the society. Contributions were made as follows:—Emergency fund. £ 10; the Good Neighbour Service, £ 10; Meals on Wheels, £ 10; disabled servicemen’s fund, £10; dried milk to Malaya, £2; old peoples’ Christmas parcels fund. £1 10s. Officers elected were:— president and secretary, Mrs B. Wynn Williams; vicepresidents, Mesdames E. O. Arbuckle and A. A. Thomson; treasurer, Mrs H. Hawke; junior liason officer, Mrs B. J. McMahon; committee, Mesdames P. Stringer, G. L. McGuckin, M. Casey, T. Gabrielsen. L. O’Neill, J. Carson, T. Hooper. B. J. McMahon, Mr A. A. Thomson.
