Royal Chant, the second outsider in an eight-horse field for the Cromwell Jockey Club's Centennial Gold Cup, rounded off a double worth £lOB 15s when he scored decisively over the favourites, Brown Watch and Feieka. The first leg. the D. A. Jolly Champion Hack Handicap, was won decisively by Half Quid, from the favourite, Mighty Smart There was a record attendance. The gate takings amounted to £3lO, as against £204 for the two days last year. The track was fast. The weather was warm but overcast. Rain fell after the last race.
