First-Innings Wins In Suburban Games

The ninth-round games of the Suburban Cricket Association competitions ended on Saturday in fine ’ but windy conditions. AU senior games resulted in first-innings wins. Waltham was hard pressed to overtake the Papanui total, losing eight wickets before the required runs were obtained. N. Clark played a steady and valuable innings of 37, and E. Millward scored 36. All the Papanui bowlers were steady, especially B. Sharp, who bowled 22 overs for 38 runs. Beckenham was set to score 159 to win. It had seven second-innings wickets down for 110 at close of play.
