BURMESE COUP
Parliament Dissolved (N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyrig ht) RANGOON, March 4. General Ne Win, chairman of the Burmese Revoluitionary Council, is to confer with five members of each of the country’s political parties at council headquarters in Rangoon this morning. Yesterday, he issued an order suspending the Constitution and dissolving Parliament. Members of both Houses of Parliament were told that they would be paid off. Martial law has not been formally declared. However, the announcement by General Ne Win enables the Revolutionary Council, and a ‘•cabinet” of senior Army officers appointed by him, to act as they see fit The deposed Premier, U Nu, is still held at an army base in Mingaladon, 10 miles from Rangoon, reliable sources said today. Also in custody are Burma’s first President, Sao Shwe Tbaik, seven of U Nu’s deposed Cabinet, and 40 others.
