GIRL OF THE MONTH
Many Friends In N.Z. (By the London Correspondent of “The Press") Recently chosen as girl of the month by “Interliner,” the house magazine of TransCanada Air Lines, Miss Elizabeth Davies is the 22-year-old daughter of the new president of the New Zealand Society in London (Mr G. L. Davies) and Mrs Davies.
Miss Davies, who is employed at the British Overseason Airways Corporation’s Regent street branch, in London, would like to visit New Zealand where she has many friends in Wellington, Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and Christchurch. Educated at a boarding school in Haslemere, Surrey, and at the British Institute of the University of Paris, where she studied French, music and needlework, Miss Davies’ hobbies include travelling, driving and horseracing- She has visited the United States twice and last year accompanied her mother on a 19-day world tour. Miss Davies and her parents live in a Chelsea home where many New Zealanders have been entertained. Mr Davies is the first non-New Zealander to be president of the society in Britain.
Death In Dublin.— Advice has been received of the death in Dublin of Mr Frank Maguire, brother of Mother M. Vincent, St Mary’s Convent Christchurch. Other members of the family are the Rev, T. Maguire, C.S.S.P., Louisiana Sister Mary Peter and Sister Mary Paul, Le Havre, France, Mr Hugh Maguire, Ralston, Scotland, and Mr Brian Maguire, Dublin.
