Sheepskins.—-The use of prepared sheepskins in geriatric wards as a trial, as a prevention against bedsores, has been recommended by the North Canterbury Hospital Board to the Burwood Hospital medii-al advisory committee.

Memorial Prise.— A Wendy Watson memorial prize was established in memory of Sister Wendy Watson, who was killed last year in a motorscooter accident. The prize will be provided by Sister Watson’s family. It will be awarded twice a year to the nurse who takes first place in the examination in the practice and theory of obstetric nursing. Loan Cut The board decided to apply for permission to raise a loan of £250,000 this year instead of £750,000 as originally intended. There seemed little point in going for the larger amount until the hospital works committee had approved additional building projects, the finance committee reported. Land for Home.—The board had been given authority to purchase a block of land of just under five acres in the Waunairi county for an old people’s home, as an alternative to using the Memorial avenue land, the works committee reported.
