The North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday passed a minute recording the service to tfie board of a former chairman, Mr V. C. Lawn, who died recently. The board stood as a gesture of respect to his memory. Under a bursary scheme operated by the Royal Society and the Nuffield Foundation, Professor A. G. McLellan, Professor of Physics at the University of Canterbury, will spend nine months this year extending his knowledge of the physics of the solid state at Clarendon Laboratory, Oxford.— London, February 28.
