The Rev. J. Evans has been appointed as assistant priest to the Rev. A. A. Purchas for work in the parish of Linwood-Aranui. He has recently been priest-in-charge of the parish of St. Mary’s, Timaru. Before that he was vicar of Kaiapoi. Mr Evans will take up his new appoint, rnent on March 1.
Mr A. A. Dingwall, a member of the Overseas Mission Board of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, will leave Christchurch today to accompany the Rev. S. G. Andrews, secretary of the board, on a tour of inspection of mission plantations in the Solomon Islands. They will make policy decisions on management of the plantations and their future development. Mr A. H. Mitchell, a graduate of Lincoln College, has been awarded a four-yea r bursary by the Department of Agriculture to study for a further degree of veterinary science in Brisbane, at the University of Queensland Mr Mitchell will leave on February 19. The Rev. Dr. R. S. Foster, of England, has been appointed warden of St John s College by the trust board of the college He succeeds Canon R. E. Sutton, who was warden of the college for the last 15 years, and is retiring.—<P.A.)
