TAXI DRIVERS’ DISPUTE

A dispute between two Lyttelton taxi drivers, over the allocation of a taxi fare on the evening of January 10, resulted in the appearance in the Magistrate’s Court, Lyttelton, before Mr E. A. Lee, S.M., of John William Drew and John Leslie Smith.

According to the complainant, Smith, who alleged he had been struck by Drew, the matter had now been amicably settled and good relations had been re-estab-lished between them both. Mr W. F. Brown, who appeared for Drew, said that the matter seemed to have been a storm in a teacup and it had now blown over. The charge was dismissed under Section 42 of the Criminal Justice Act of 1954, with costs only.
