Charge Against M.P. Dismissed ( N.Z. Press Association) LEVIN, February 15. A charge against a member of Parliament, Ernest Philip Aderman. of New Plymouth, of being found on the licensed premises of the Oxford Hotel. Levin on October 6, after hours, was dismissed in a reserved judgment by Mr D. G. Sinclair, S.M., given today in the Magistrate’s Court at Levin. A similar charge against Gerald Francis Burton, a company director and secretary, of Stratford, was also dismissed. Both defendants had pleaded not guilty at the original hearing on February 1.
The Magistrate said he was satisfied that both defendants were bona fide travellers.
They had been travelling from Wellington to Taranaki, and at Levin, Burton, who knew the licensee, decided to cal! at the hotel to telephone his wife in Stratford.
The Magistrate said that as the consumption of liquor by the defendants was merely incidental the charges would be dismissed.
