Last Year
Self - employed persons earned a record net amount of £206.8 million for the 196061 income year, according to provisional estimate* made by the Department of Statistics.
This was an increase of £l2 5 million on the previous year’s figure. Increases were fairly evenly distributed over all classes of selfemoloyed persons. The farming sector, which accounts for about half the self-employed persons, is estimated to have had a net income of £1199 million in 1960-61 compared with £ll4 million in 1959-60.
