The resignation of Mr R. W. Ellis from the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society was accepted at a meeting of the council last evening. Mr D. E. Ames was appointed for the sub-district of Christchurch in his place. The resignation of Mr A. M. Ollivier was also accepted at the meeting, and no immediate new appointment was made.
Dutch Presbyterian settlers in the South Island are to have the services of a fulltime Dutch minister, who will be based in Christchurch. He is the Rev. G. W. van Tricht, who will be attached to St. Andrew's parish. Mr van Tricht will be inducted by the moderator, the Rev. C. R. Sprocket*. on March 4. The preacher will be the Rev. W. van Wyngen.
Mr G. I. Louisson has been elected to represent Canterbury on the New Zealand Council of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
