NEW MARIST COLLEGE

Training For Brothers (N.Z. Preus Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 12. The new £160,000 Marist Brothers’ Training College was blessed and opened by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, Archbishop J. M. Liston, in Korma avenue, Onehunga. The College will cater for about 80 students and prepare them as Marist Brothers who will teach in Catholic schools. The students will be trained as teachers and then go to one of the 37 Marist Brothers’ schools in New Zealand, Fiji and Samoa. The official party included Archbishop P. McKeefrey. Bishop of Wellington and Metropolitan of New Zealand; Archbishop Liston, Bishop of Auckland; Bishop E. M. Joyce, Bishop of Christchurch, and Bishop R. Delargey. Assistant Bishop of Auckland. The Marist Brothers’ Order was represented by the Rev. Brother Hilary, assistantgeneral of the Order in New Zealand and Australia; the Rev. Brother Theophane, provincial of New Zealand; and the director of the college, the Rev. Brother Adrian.
