“MY FAIR LADY” PROCEEDS

£4OO From Charity Performance The organisers of the Canterbury Merchant Navy Centre appeal panel hope proceeds of the charity performance of “My Fair Lady,” held last evening, will amount to about £4OO. Each woman in the audience was presented with a spray of summer flowers by members of the Girls’ Nautical Training Corps. About 1020 sprays were made by the members of 17 women’s clubs in Christ, church and the flowers were given by private citizens and the Canterbury Gladiolus Society. A floral anchor made of red, white and blue astors, which dominated the upstairs foyer, was presented by the reserves department of the City Council for the occasion Also on display was a 10ft model of the Ceramic. The proceeds of the performance will be added to funds already in hand for the reconstruction of the Merchant Navy Centre at Lyttelton.
