Cricket TOURS BY FIJI
Captain Hopes For More ( N.Z. Preus Association) AUCKLAND. Feb. 12. The hope that Fijian cricket teams could tour New Zealand more regularly than once in eight years was expressed today before tihe tourists left, by their captam. S. Snowsill.
“The eight-year gap seems a very tong time in Fiji.” said Snowsill. “Our youngest players have nothing to aim at for years and tend to be lost to the game. “I think we have proved popular in New Zealand. We always tried to play' bright cricket, we drew good crowds and every association seemed pleased.” he said. Snowsilil said that throughout the tour all players improved and benefited, although none sacrificed his uninhibited style for a more studious approach. The most successful batsman had proved to be H. J. Apted, the 40-year-old opening batsman. He headed the betting figures with more than 1300 runs in what was his most successful tour of New Zealand.
