N.Z. FOODS IN SYDNEY
Fashion Show Menu
New Zealand foods, from crayfish tails to Kon-Tiki chowder, are being assembled in Auckland to be flown by T E.A.L. to Sydney next week for an all-New Zealand dinner. The foods will be served to 150 guests previewing New Zealand's award - winning wool fashions in the Hotel Australia next Thursday. The joint organisers, the New Zealand Wool Board and T.E.A.L., last week invited selected food manufacturers and wine-makers to show their wares to press, radio and television representatives attending the fashion show —and to invite prospective food buyers. As a result, the Australians will sample wines from New Zealand's highest vineyard, on the scenic drive in the Waitakeres; matured Cheddar from Wanganui—which has been on the Australian market for 30 years: corn on the cob, peas, beans and asparagus from Hastings; tarakihi. snapper, and crayfish tails from Auckland; cooked dressed hams, roast stuffed pork, silverside and cocktail sausages from Otahuhu; canned peaches from Hawke’s Bay with ice cream from Auckland, and Kon Tiki i chowder, the mussel-based soup from Coromandel. The national wool awards for 1962 will be presented in Wellington next Monday evening by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake). They will then be sent by air-freight to Sydney.
