ORBITAL FLIGHT
Astronaut Ready (N ZP.A.-Reuter—Copyright) CAPE CANAVERAL (Florida), February 12. Lieutenant - Colonel John Glenn today began final preparations for his expected space flight on Wednesday. The Atlas rocket and the capsule in which he will make three global orbits were ready. The long-range weather forecast was for good conditions on Wednesday but it was less favourable after that. Colonel Glenn, who started his low residue diet yesterday, went through these final procedures last month only to have the launching postponed on January 27 because of clouds over Cape Canaveral. Before the National Aeronautics and Space Administration gives the go ahead, skies must be clear and seas calm in the Cape Canaveral area and in the recovery zone stretching across the Atlantic Ocean. There must also be an absence of electrical storms all round the world in the area of his orbit so that radio communication with the capsule can be free of interference.
