RACING Handicap At Gore Won By Dormic

Donnie, third In the Gore Cup a week earlier, scored his first open-class win in his third attempt since clearing hack ranks when he beat a small field easily in the Gore Racing Club Handicap, main event on the second day of the Gore Racing Club’s summer meeting vesterday. Dormic coasted home four lengths clear of the warm favourite. Irrepressible. An outsize double dividend was recorded when the rank outsider of a 13-horae field. Blue Haven, won the second leg. the Charlton Handicap. The Dormic—Blue Haven combination returned a doubles dividend of £454 10« for £l. The club benefited considerably from its decision to hold a twilight meeting yesterday, the second in the history of New Zealand racing. The financial returns rose substantially. The totalisator handled £34.058 10s. compared with £32,185 on the second lay last year. The two-day total was £53,183 10s. compared with £80,551 for the summer meeting last year, a decrease of £7367 10s. The meeting was held tn fine weather. The track, although cutting out early, improved during the afternoon.
