Boxing RECOGNITION WITHDRAWN
A. Moore’s World Title (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyripht) NEW YORK. Feb 10 A. Moore is no longer recognised as the world light heavy-weight champion by the New York State Athletic Commission. The commission withdrew its recognition of the 45-year-old Moore after he had ignored repeated warnings to give a title bout either to the National Boxing Association champion, H. Johnson, or to D. Jones, a leading contender. The NB A. has recognised Johnson as champion for a year. (The New York Commission is not affiliated with the N.B.A. and does not necessarily recognise N.B.A. champions.) The New York Commission's action today left Moore’s title recognised only in Massachusetts and in Europe. But boxing circles said they expected these areas also to withdraw recognition. Rules of the New York Commission and the N.B.A. require a champion to defend his title at least every six months. Moore last defended his in New York last June 10 when he beat G. Rinaldi, of Italy, on points, over 15 rounds.
