NEW MINISTERS INDUCTED
Methodist Church Services
Last week two ministers were inducted in Methodist Churches. The Rev. M. J Campbell was inducted as minister of St. John's Methodist Church. Addington, by the chairman of the district, the Rev. H. G Brown, at St John’s Church. The Rev. L. G. Willing presented the charge. At a social after the service the Rev. C. R. Marshall welcomed Mr and Mrs Campbell on behalf of the Lincoln road and Halswell churches. The Rev J D. Froud. of St. Mary’s Church. Addington. represented other denominations and Mr Brown spoke on behalf of the North Canterbury Methodist Church.
Mr Campbell came to New Zealand from England three years ago. During World War II he served in the Royal Navy as a lieutenantcommander.
Also last week, the Rev W. S. Dawson was inducted as minister of the Durham street Methodist Church. For the last eight'years Mr Dawson has been stationed in the Takapuna circuit, where he has been responsible for the building of four new churches. He was also the first Methodist minister to appear on television in Auckland Mr Dawson is convener of the Public Questions Committee of the New Zealand Methodist Conference. The induction was conducted by the Rev. H. L Fiebig. and the charge presented by the Rev. J. D Grncott After the service. Mr and Mrs Dawson were welcomed to the district by Mr N G Hillary on behalf of the officers and members of the Durham street church Mr Fiebig spoke on behalf of the North Canterbury Methodist District and the Rev D. L. Trebilco represented the Cashmere and Somerfleld churches.
