Gladiolus Society Show

The champion bloom of the Canterbury Gladiolus Society's annual show, held in the Trinity Hall yesterday, was a seedling gladiolus brought from Oamaru yesterday morning by the grower. Mr G. Palmer. One of the judges, Mr T. C. de Lautour. said: ‘This is a flower with a future."

The seedling was a bright scarlet giant formal, with 11 florets open. Mr de Lautour said that in spite of the heat and drought before the show, there were the usual number of entries (about 160). and the standard was extremely high. The judges were: formal. Mr B. A. Tait; informal, Mr H. F. Barker; decorative. Mrs M. Glasgow; cut flowers and dahlias, Mr T. C. de Lautour. Results were:—
