Croquet INTER-CLUB RESULTS

Results of the Canterbury Croquet Association’s inter-club shield matches played this week were : Pennant Grade Sumner v. United (Sumner names first). —Doubles; Mrs D. M. Archbold and G. Webb beat Mesdames E G. Queree and M. F. McTeigue, 19-17; Mesdames A. W. Boyce and A. Halliday beat Mesdames J. Grundy and R. Harris. 22-14; Mesdames R. Holcroft and J. Craddock beat Mesdames F. A. Barrow and M. E. Blackmore, 22-15.

Singles: Mrs Archbold beat Mrs Queree, 26-10; G. A. Webb beat Mrs McTeigue. 26-19; Mrs Boyce beat Mrs Grundy. 26-15; Mrs Holcroft beat Mrs Barrow, 17-16; Mrs Craddock beat Mrs Blackmore. 25-20. Sumner beat United by eight games to nil. Rangiora v. St. Martins (Rangiora names first).— Doubles: Mesdames C. Loffhagen and E. Ching beat Mesdames M. Marriott and R. Overend, 26-6; Mesdames H Robertshaw and L Dench lost to R. Overend and Mrs M Hill. 18-22; Mesdames E. Withell and G. Rotchfort beat Mesdames F. Barkie and T. Tebay, 26-8. Singles: Mrs LofThagen beat Mrs Marriott. 26-3; Mrs Ching beat Mrs Overend. 26-20; Mrs Robertshaw beat R. Overend. 26-20; Mrs Dench lost to Mrs Hill, 16-26: Mrs Withell beat Mrs Barkie, 23-20; Mrs Rotchfort lost to Mrs Tebay, 15-26. Rangiora won by six games to three.

Results in other grades were:—

Intermediate: Rangiora beat South Brighton by 5 games to 4. Sumner beat Linwood-Avon-side by 5 games to 4. St. James beat Barrington by 8 games to 1. Edgeware beat St. Martins by 7 games to 2. B Grade- Fendalton II beat Elmwood by 6 games to 3 Sumner I beat Cashmere by 5 games to 4, Hornby beat Edgeware by 6 games to 3. St. Martins beat Fendalton I bv 6 games to 3.

C Grade: Rangiora beat Fendalton by 6 games to 3.
