A.S.R.S. Backs Carpenters
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 8. "Acting in support of the declared policy of the Federation of Labour, the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants opposes the introduction of labour-only contracts in the building trade and endorses the action of the Carpenters’ Union in Christchurch,” said the president of the A.S.R.S., Mr D. M. Kane, today. Mr Kane said that the national council of the A.S.R.S., now in session, had pledged further support to the Carpenters’ Union if it was necessary.
