Lighter Lambs Easier
( N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. There was a plentiful supply of lightweight lamb on London’s Smithfield market this week with a slight easing in price, according to the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board market information service.
However, New Zealand lamb continued to meet a good trade and quotations for the main and heavier grades remained steady. There were light supplies of New Zealand mutton and this enabled sellers to maintain firm prices Light pitchings of New Zealand hoggets brought 13d to 14d per lb Wethers were very scarce and nominally quoted at lOd to 12d per lb. Ewes were also lOd to 12d per lb. New Zealand beef was not quoted Prices for New Zealand new season's lamb, ex hooks Smithfield. in the week ended February 9. with the variation since the previous week, are quoted as follows: Canterbury Lamb
