Woman Saves Baby
( N.Z. Press Association)
PALMERSTON N„ Feb. 8.
A woman smashed a window and snatched her baby from possible death by suffocation when her house caught fire at 17 College street, Palmerston North, this morning.
Mrs J. Dumipleton was working at the front of the house when one of her children called out that smoke was coming from the kitchen window.
She ran to the back of the house, smashed the window and grabbed her baby from the room. The house was of five rooms, and, of these, only two were untouched by the blaze. It is believed the fire started in the kitchen stove.
