CALL FOR “A” BLOOD GROUP
Heavy Demand On Service
The North Canterbury Blood Transfusion Service has been very busy over the last week or more, with an unusually heavy call on the relatively common A group, said the secretary (Mr T. Sm’th).
“We thought we were busy during the first fortnight in January, but the last week has been even busier,” he said. “During the first seven days of February we issued 180 pints of blood, compared with 137 in the corresponding period la-st month.” Mr Smith did not know the reason for the heavy call on blood, nor did he so far have any information on wdiich hospitals were requiring it.
