Milk Board Comment
Discussion by members of the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board yesterday on the reserved decision given in the Magistrate’s Court centred on the time factor involved, where the appellant had had to wait two years to have his case heard. The chairman (Mr G. D. Hattaway) said, in reply to a question as to who was at fault for the delay, that it seemed to be the Court. There was certainly no fault by the board. It was not fair to the board that the appellant had had to wait two years. Such matters should be dealt with as soon as possible. Mr W. E. Olds said that the decision had vindicated the board’s policy, to which Mr Hattaway replied that, while it was at times unfortunate for individuals, the boa-d had to act for the good of the public in general.
