FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A slow-moving front lies across the North Island and a south-westerly airstream covers the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Light or moderate winds, northeasterlies predominating on the coast: partly cloudy with mild afternoon temperatures. Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter predominating, the winds possibly becoming variable later; partly cloudy, but scattered rain possible later in the day. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh south-west winds; variable skies with a few scattered showers and cool. Outlook: scattered showers.
