ATHLETICS FAST SPRINT TIMES AT EVENING MEETING

A slight following breeze in the straight made for fast 100 yards’ times at a combined athletic clubs’ meeting at Rugby Park on Tuesday evening. In the senior event D. W. McKenzie (University) ran the distance in lOsec—his best this season — and in the girls’ under 14 race, Miss J. Oakley (Toe H) bettered her own Canterbury record with a time of 12sec.

In his last appearance at Rugby Park before he leaves for Australia today, L. G. Jones (Technical) recorded 37sec for 330 yards from 10 yards behind, which is equivalent to 440 yards in about 48 sec. Another good performance was that of K. Simpson (Toe H) who again displayed good form in the hop, step and jump, winning the senior event with 44ft sin and the junior event with 43ft 3iin.
