RED ARION DESTROYED
Injuries From
Race Smash
Red Arion, which was badly injured in a race smash on the second day of the Nelson meeting, had to be destroyed last week. Although toe full extent of his injuries were not known it is understood that the shaft of the sulky broke and pierced his shoulder when he was brought down in a smash which involved five horses about a furlong and a half after the start of toe Appleby Handicap last Monday week. Red Arion, an aged gelding by Red Emperor from Lady Scott, was raced and trained by Mr W- J. Goodyer, of Richmond. He had been unplaced in each of his five races this season.
