Pipe bands from all parts of New Zealand will compete in t e Dominion pipe band contest, to be held at Lancaster Park from February 23 to February 25 This year’s contest has at-
t.acted 22 entries, which is more than in previous years.
The bands competing are:— A Grade.—City of Dunedin. City of Invercargill, City of Wellington. Dunedin Highland. Hutt Valiev, New Zealand Scot-
tish Regiment. Scottish Society of New Zealand. B Grade—Canterbury Caledonian. City of Christchurch. Feilding and District, Hawke’s Bay Scottish. Metropolitan (Christchurch). Port Ahuriri (Napierl. St Andrew’s College <Christchurchl, Timaru Highland. Taieri. C Grade—Christchurch Ladies. City of Palmerston North. City of Christchurch Ladies. Dunedin Ladies. Mackenzie Highland (Fairiie). North Canterbury Caledonian (Rangiora).
The hands will be judged on selections of music, marching and drill. drumming. drum major's display, and staff flourishing. Tnere will be judges from different parts of NewZealand.
On the morning of February 24 the bands will compete in a s’reet inarch, starting from Latimer square. After the judging on February 25. they will give a mass display at Lancaster Park.
