Premier Award To Papanui Garden

The premier award for the garden gaining the most points in the Christchurch Beautifying Association’s annual competition has been won by Mr V. Beggs of 21 Claremont avenue, Papanui. This garden was considered by the judges to be particularly outstanding. They said it had been immaculately cultivated and combined excellent foundation planting with blended planting shades. The increased entries in the competition were most gratifying to the association, the judges said. In particular there were large entries for the H. M. Taylor and the Harry Tillman Cups. These were for competitors who had not won a cup in any previous competition and for those with new gardens where the home was not more than three years old.
