Lower Grade Results

Seventh round matches in the Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions began on Saturday. Results of lower grade games were:— SECOND GRADE A East-Shirley 82 (Charlton four for 12, Sibley four for 29) and 76 for six (Bennetts four for 23) met Technical Old Bovs 195 (Gray 43, Russell 34; French three for 24, Cameron four for 48). High School Old Boys 201 (Gregg 59; Saunders five for 52) met Lancaster Park 131 for six (Ellis 51, Dobson 39). Riccarton 188 (Dickens 56, Dickey 36, Stewart 35; Kerr three for seven) met West-Uni-versity 162 for eight (Stewart three for 20, Alexander three for 57). Boys’ High School 233 (Hadlee 61, Burtt 48, Bull 38; Plummer three for 35) met St. Albans 117 for six (Harris 40, Ameson 33 not out; Hill three for 8). SECOND GRADE B Sydenham 205 (Clarke 36, Thomas 30; Jolley three for 30. Buckley three for 50) met Technical Old Boys 92 for one (Wooders 35 not out, Smith 32 not out). Old Collegians 204 (Lewis 73; Stanger six for 30) met Marist 247 for eight (Stanger 63, Ryan 42).

Christ's College 148 (Garrett 50, Fraser 36; Taylor three for 19, Smith four for 34) met St. Andrew’s 92 for six.

St. Albans 166 (Smith five for 43, Overend four for 55) met St. Albans-Teachers' College 35 for four. SECOND GRADE C Lancaster Park 160 (Burdon 37, Millard 35; Thompson four for 24) met West-University 93 (Merton 49; Ullrich five for 33, Walklin three for 22). Marist 158 (Taylor four for 49. Thomas three for 46) met Sydenham 132 for two (Davis 56 not out, Price 31 not out). Old Collegians 181 (Wilkins 52, Cargill 45 not out; Aidersley four for 46) and 17 for none met High School Old Boys 122 (Judson 55; Bishop four for 27). East-Shirley 116 (Willis 54; Hine six for 30. Jackson three for 35) met Riccarton 97 for nine. PRESIDENTS GRADE Lancaster Park A 256 for one (Richards 144 not out, Dryden 52 not out, Dennis 39) beat Lancaster Park B 248 for nine (R. Withers 88. G. Withers 85; Wheatley six for 90) on the first innings. Sydenham 174 (Fraser 61; Gardner four for 32) beat WestUniversity 114 (Downie 40 not out; Wilson four for 25), on the first innings.

High School Old Boys A 135 for three declared (Baxter 59 not out. Small 56 not out) beat Old Collegians 79 (Small five for 27, Escott four for 47) and 60 for two wickets, on the first innings. Ricca rton 172 for seven (Garnett 52) beat High School Old Boys B 171 for nine declared (Greig 49 not out; Dawson six for 59), on the first innings. THIRD GRADE A Old Collegians 173 (Wreaks 61; Trist three for 35) met WestUniversity 119 for six (Cockburn 32; Wreaks three for 43).

High School Old Boys 206 (Thomas 36, Austin 35 not out) met Lancaster Park 71 for four (Frengley four for 18). St. Albans 267 for seven declared (Maindonald 120. Morel 67 not out) met East-Shirley 29 for four (Allen four for 8).

THIRD GRADE B Technical Old Boys 150 for nine declared (Corbin 66; Creagh five for 47, Walker three for 48 > beat Sydenham 124 (Patterson 50; Ewen six for 42. Gilroy four for 21) and 108

for four (Patterson 50), on the first innings. Rfccarton 44 (Sutton three for 17) and 76 for two (Muncaster 52 not out) beat St. AlbansTeachers' College 69 (Alderson three for 16) and 48 (Edwards three for 27), by eight wickets. FOURTH GRADE Marist 216 for two declared (Graham 100 not out. Lennon 87) beat High School Old Bovs 199 (Balllie 86, Howarth 33; Graham four for 16), on the first innings. East-Shirley 134 (Tate 31 not out; Rae six for 43) drew with West-University 124 for eight (Sturge 36; Roberts three for 22, Parker three for 38 >. Lancaster Park B 128 for three (Ward 38. Davies 34 not out) beat Old Collegians 109 (Ballantyne 63; Lamport five for 35) and 86 (Gilbert 49; Lamport four for 29. Rothal three for 12), on the first innings. Lancaster Park A 45 for five declared and 34 for two beat Riccarton 42 (Trott three for 9) and 28 (Godfrey four for 9), by eight wickets. Lancaster Park C 158 for nine (Gray 60) beat St. Albans 119 (McWhinnie 33; Flewellyn four for 16), on the first innings.
